In this book I talk about military action in Afghanistan in 1986-1987. I fought in the secret special task squad, which specialized in liquidation of caravans with ammunition, militant training bases, warehouses with weapons and destruction of Mojaheed military forces. Two times I sustained serious wounds and was in captivity. I narrated in this book the events of the war, during which I served in the rank of a Sergeant.

About the author (2009)

Nikolai Glukhov was born in 1967 in the city of Leninsk-Kusnezk, Russia. In 1986 he was drafted into the Soviet Army and during 1986-1987 he participated in military action in Afghanistan, serving in the rank of a Sergeant. He was wounded twice and got captured. In the end of 1987 Nikolai Glukhov returned home. In the year 2000 he came to United States for a permanent residency. He is currently residing in New York.
