Geoffrey Ursell's Saskatoon Pie! was the winner of Persephone Theatre's 1981 National Playwriting Competition and a huge success on stage. Set in Regina in 1906 during a meeting of the Provincial Legislature, the play deals with political corruption, scandal, the CPR, and women's suffrage, all contained within the form of a rollicking musical comedy. "The plot careens along with more twists and turns than the CPR track. Along the way, there are plenty of songs, dances and jokes...and lots of backroom politics, feminism and romance."-Regina Leader-Post
