About the author (1996)

Rachael JanLynnette McCormick was born on December 10, 1989, along with her fraternal twin sister in Henrico County, Virginia. She is a graduate of Clover Hill High School in North Chesterfield, Virginia. Her interests are reading, writing, studying history, photography, and cooking. Rachael's career goal is to someday be a writer and have her own small publishing business. Rachael has been studying and reading about the Holocaust since the fourth grade. In the ninth grade, her history teacher had the class participate in trivia questions about World War II. One of the questions was, "Did Hitler kill Africans?" She didn't raise her hand because she had never thought or read about Hitler killing Africans. Learning the answer was yes, inspired Rachael to do research on the subject of the Black victims of the Holocaust. Tons of information showed up in her research. The first question she asked herself was, "Why isn't this being taught in schools?" From this question and all of her research, she decided to write this story and call it, Other Victims. Rachael began writing the book when she was only fifteen. Also, she has written a play and screenplay, based on the story.
