September 11: A Testimony
Reuters, 2001 - Disasters - 256 pages
September 11, 2001. A day that shook the world and left thousands dead in the World Trade Center, in the Pentagon, and in the Pennsylvania countryside. This book serves as a testament to those who lost their lives, to those who fought to save them, and to those who are endeavouring to rebuild. The guiding principle in assembling these images was one of documenting scenes of endurance and resolve. Finding the pictures that capture courage and fortitude in the heat and dust of ground zero. All profits from this book will be donated to AIDfund, AIDfund for America and The Pearson September 11 Children's Fund, along with additional contributions from Reuters and from Pearson Education, the book's publisher. From a huge collection of reportage we have tried to bring together coverage of these world-changing events into a record both disturbing and inspirational in its impact. About AIDfund and AIDfund for America This book is also about making a contribution, both personally and financially, to disaster relief and to the ongoing task of rebuilding communities and restoring confidence. AIDfund, established by Reuters Foundation, provides immediate funding to help charities and relief organizations around the globe respond rapidly in times of disaster. AIDfund for America responds specifically to the human loss and suffering in the United States following the events of September 11. All donations to both charities go to disaster relief; nothing is spent on administration. About The Pearson September 11 Children's Fund The Pearson September 11 Children's Fund was founded to support those affected by the September 11th tragedy. Both Pearson and its employees have donated to this fund. The overwhelming concern has been about children, and the impact on these most innocent of victims. Although it is impossible to say that one group is more important than another, Pearson reaches many children around the world every day, through its publishing and online activities. The fund is supporting three specific areas: Emergency workers children Education & scholarship Trauma & stress To date the Pearson September 11th Children's Fund has raised over $1,000,000 for a number of relief charities. We have also established the Pearson Scholar Memorial Fund at the Borough of Manhatten Community College. The first students will begin their scholarships in September.
