I really loved this book and can offer lots of practical and more conventional reasons why I think Simple Meditation is an excellent resource for anyone interested in improving their life with a meditation practice -- and also for devotees looking for interesting ways to expand their repertoire.
But the book was, to me, a real surprise. Because it is also a beautiful telling of the story of the author's own life-changing encounters on his travels toward enlightenment. It is a gentle and compelling testament to the power of seeking higher wisdom within one's self and, through one's self, beyond.
There is an open sweetness to this book, a deep feeling of the generosity and good will involved in crafting it. I'm so glad I bought this book and so grateful to be able to practice these meditations.
The basics:
Filled with fantastic meditations to take both the absolute beginner and the experienced meditator
(I fall somewhere in between) to divine places.
Clear and concise with loads of effective and creative meditations that are easy to use and a joy to experience. I would swear I actually went for a swim with one, relaxed deeper than I'd ever felt with another. Some healing, some fun, some deeply relaxing, some revealing, all of them useful.
As the title might suggest, it can serve as a primer on meditation for those new to the practice.
It addresses meditation for relaxation, for healing and for spiritual connection.
But I also think it holds so much for every reader, for each reader.
I'm grateful to have access to the wonderful sometimes lush meditations the author has crafted.
And for those who teach meditation, I think this little book would be a wonderful addition to the bookshelf, something fresh to offer students.
