I came to this book specifically for the section on the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters. I attended Immaculate Heart High School from 1966-1970 - Ground Zero for their struggles with MacIntyre and the Vatican. While Ms. Carey is entitled to her opinion, facts and the truth are pesky things. If you want to know what really happened and reach your own conclusion with facts and clarity, rather than a biased agenda I strongly urge you to read Anita Caspary's 2003 book, Witness To Integrity, The Crisis of the Immaculate Heart Community of California.
this book discloses that playing the crucial role in the destruction of catholic religious communities for women in this country, and, consequently, in the resulting destruction of catholic educationm, were many of the so-called women's religious leaders of the 1960's. all who strive to re-establish catholic orthodoxy, should value author ann carey's report on what actually happened to the sisters in crisis.
