In Spa Medicine: Your Gateway to the Ageless Zone, Drs. Simpson, Sinatra, and SuE1;rez-MenE9;ndez introduce readers to the concept of healthy, graceful aging through spa medicine. More and more, they say, spa medicine will radically change the way people think about spas. Instead of viewing the spa as a pampering oasis disengaged from any regular routine, people will begin to see it as a new way of life in which nutrition, exercise, nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals, and other healthy lifestyle practices form an ongoing foundation to help people thrive as they age. With ninety years of medical experience among them, the authors of Spa Medicine are supremely qualified to offer a fresh perspective on how to restore balance in readers' lives and provide them with longevity strategies to counteract the stresses of the modern world. They believe this is truly the medicine of the twenty-first century, and that medi-spas are the perfect places in which to integrate all facets of it for maximum benefit. The first part of this book discusses what the doctors term the "Four Pillars of Wellness": detoxification, nutrition, exercise, and mind-body health. Part Two takes up the "Four Secrets of Longevity": inflammation prevention, nutraceuticals, hormonal therapy, and cosmeceuticals. This informative, easy-to-understood book is illustrated with many helpful charts and tables. Appendices in the back expand on selected subjects, and the resources section has a full directory of medi-spas.
