This is an expansive, catholic embrace of the world of Cocktails. Stillman makes sure you have everything you need to execute over 615 Cocktails, highballs and punches. Her research profits the reader with the potential to never need another cocktail book, at the very least it's many more Cocktails than you're likely to make. There is so much that is fun and delicious within this reference volume
The eclectic nature of the entries for the drinks give each page a little bit of suspense before reading the purposefully unrepetitive notes. It's not a perfect book, any encyclopedia writer must balance being encompassing and being a human with tastes, inclinations and time constraints. There are foundationally basic beverages you may have made on accident right along side very niche tipples made by only a handful of people before Stillman enshrined them.
The photos are beautiful, as you will have from Phaidon. That said, they are a few times imperfect representations of the drinks they depict.
