The subject of this book, a bas relief sculpture titled Madonna and child, hung in the St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Leesburg, Virginia since 1936. The piece disappeared during the 1970s. James Lucier has written an in-depth history of this sculpture, the Eustis family who originally donated it to the church, and how a duplicate was created and restored to St. John's the Apostle Church.
