Teacher's Journey: The Road Less TraveledRobert John Meehan's poetic insight into the heart and soul of both teacher and student tugs at readers' emotions like few writers can. His depth of experience as a teacher in some of the nation's most difficult schools over a period of four decades is deeply embedded in each of his selections of poetry. His ability to share the joy, sorrows, and at times, the horror of teaching in today's inner city schools is brought to the forefront in each of the poems included in his The Teacher's Journey. Meehan has accomplished much over the past decades in encouraging other teachers to share their feelings, emotions, and experiences in working with students. Follow Meehan as he inspires students and teachers alike in The Teacher's Journey to understanding the meaning of being an authentically effective teacher. |

I stumbled upon the author on twitter and the name of his book struck a cord, both parts of the title have deep meaning for me. I'm a teacher that recently left a decade long career in an inner city school and Im launching a site to help teachers find their next step along their journey from the classroom. I also many years ago read the book A Road Less Traveled by M Scott Peck and that changed my life at 20 and inspired me to push through tragedy to accomplish my goal of becoming a teacher. Naturally I was curious so a couple of clicks later I was reading the poetic insights of a fellow teacher that had been genuinely connected to the students he encountered on his own teacher's journey. I not only related to the words so thoughtfully put together but also could not help but feel as if he was in some way describing the many children that were once in my own classroom. I think any teacher that has spent time in school where survival is part of the everyday norm, will enjoy this poignant and creatively written book, that Mehenn has wistfully bared his raw emotions through poetry. I recommend it highly and for a mere $6.00, you can download it instantly and be as inspired and grateful as I am by another Teachrer's Journey.
