Telstar: The Joe Meek Story

Front Cover
Oberon Books, 2005 - Drama - 106 pages
Telstar tells the story of the world's first independent record producer: Joe Meek.
Joe lived a brief, explosive and bizarre life, which changed the world of music and the lives of everyone in his orbit. Despite incredibly limited resources and a studio built in his own small flat, he recorded three dynamite hits of the period: 'Johnny Remember Me', 'Have I The Right?' and of course 'Telstar', one of the biggest selling records of all time. But the hysteria of his creative energy spilt over into his life, and tragedy followed hot on the heels of success.
The inspired recording sessions and the wild times had by his band; an unrequited love for his protege and a fateful alliance with his landlady: all of these feature in this drama of music and madness.
