About the author (2012)

Beverly Lynn Bennett is an experienced vegan chef, writer, and animal lover who has worked for several vegan and vegetarian restaurants and natural foods establishments. After earning her culinary arts degree, she has spent more than 20 years developing and expanding her vegan culinary skills and knowledge base. She writes the "Dairy-Free Desserts" column for VegNews magazine, and her work has appeared in various print and online publications as well as on public television. She has hosted the popular "The Vegan Chef" website since 1999. She is the author of The Complete Idiot's Guide® to Vegan Cooking and Vegan Bites: Recipes for Singles, and coauthor with Julieanna Hever of The Complete Idiot's Guide® to Gluten-Free Vegan Cooking.

Ray Sammartano is a musician, web developer, and longtime vegan who has devoted himself to spreading the vegan message for more than 20 years. He is the webmaster of "The Vegan Chef" and Beverly's partner in life as well as in many vegan-related endeavors. Earning a degree in philosophy helped deepen his understanding of the issues surrounding a vegan lifestyle. In addition to his work with Beverly, he is wholesale manager for Mountain Rose Herbs, which specializes in organic and sustainable herbs and spices.
