The Crafts and Culture of a Medieval Castle

The text of this volume is much more readable for the elementary student than most of the others in this series. Unfortunately, the crafts that are intended for an elementary-age student are not reasonable. For example: How to make a unicorn tapestry: 1. Draw an elaborate picture with felt-tip pens on a piece of burlap. 2. Using colored markers, color all the flowers, trim and ornamentation in your picture. 3. Using a dark green marker, color in all the burlap that wasn't filled with other detail. 4. Using embroidery floss, embroider every bit of your picture. 5. Sew a felt border onto your tapestry.?Another craft calls for cutting, shaping and assembling thin aluminum pieces to make a knight's helmet. Who would put these crafts in a book for a third or fourth grader?
