A young girl likes to go on walks with her father. They walk around the neighborhood together, but do not talk, only listen. She describes the sounds she hears on her walk, then challenges the reader to sit still in the quiet and notice the sounds around them. Read full review

About the author (1993)

Paul Showers wrote twenty books for the Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science series, including favorites such as What Happens to a Hamburger? and Where Does the Garbage Go? Mr. Showers worked on the Detroit Free Press, the New York Herald Tribune, and for thirty years, the Sunday New York Times.
