‘The Nervous Disorder’ is based on notes written by Irvin ‘Seal’ Thomkins.  These notes have been translated and transformed into ‘The Nervous Disorder’ by his nephew, Roland F. Clay.


Mr. Thomkins served with the 101st Airborne in the U.S. Army from 1970-1972.  He was released with a medical discharge from wounds and mental stress. The term used to describe his condition was ‘a nervous disorder’.  Mr. Thomkins remains married and has five children.  He still resides in Detroit, Michigan.

About the author (2006)

Roland F. Clay retired from the military in 2003 after 21 years in the U.S. Navy and currently resides in Fresno, California.  His first published work is a poem published in Miracles of Nature; Watermark Press 2002.  He is currently working on another novel.  ‘A Change in America’ is in its final stage and will be ready for publication in 2006.
