About the author (1998)

The late Paulo Freire was a world renowned educator, writer, and social activist. Among the books translated from Portuguese by Paradigm Publishers are "Pedagogy of Indignation" (2004), "Daring to Dream" (2007), and another new book forthcoming in 2012. Freire s early book, "Pedagogy of the Oppressed", sold more than 1 million copies and was translated to fifty languages.

Donaldo Macedo is professor of English and Distinguished Professor of Liberal Arts and Education at the University of Massachusetts - Boston. He is the author of many books, including "Literacies of Power" and the forthcoming "Ideology Matters", coauthored with Paulo Freire.
