About the author (2022)

"The Songs of J. Will Callahan" is Mary Jane Doerr" second book. Her first book "Bay View, An American Idea" was awarded the 2010 State History Award from the Historical Society of Michigan. She has written for numerous publications including the Petoskey News-Review for 40 years. Ms.Doerr wrote the article on the history of the Detroit Opera House for the 1996 Grand Opening Program of Michigan Opera Theatre. She holds a Master's Degree in Education from Wayne State University and a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University. She was a tutor for English at Oakland Community College. Ms. Doerr is a Level II Alpine Ski instructor.
