The Hosta Handbook provides a comprehensive review of 278 horticulturally significant types of hostas, with over 1,300 more briefly described. Other chapters include the history of hostas, taxonomy of the genus Hosta, how to grow, propagate, hybridize & select mutants & a practical hosta "problem solving guide". The Hosta Handbook can be thought of as a field guide to hostas & is meant to be carried around in the garden. It will prove useful to the most experienced hosta aficionado, as well as beginners, enthusiastic gardeners, nurserymen & taxonomists alike.

Very difficult to find...but the best hosta book out there (unless you wand Zillis' tome the Hostapedia...all 10 lbs of it!). This book is small enough to carry around the garden or the garden center and has all the most popular hostas listed.
