The landed middle class and their politics in Hooghly etc. by Subhas Chandra Sen has focussed the emergence of the landed middle class in the district of hooghly, Bengal of India between 1859-1914. This book primarily deals with the consequent politicisation of the countryside through politics of the local boards and municipalities. This is really the first study of horizontal mobilisation in Bengal. This book would be very helpful to the new researchers in this field. - Dr. Partha Pratim Mukhopadhyay 15/6/2013
