Tilson Grist Mill: Mountain Folklore and Genealogy

Front Cover
Overmountain Press, 1981 - History - 48 pages
The Tilson Grist Mill, which nestled more than a hundred years in the shadow of mile high Bald Mountain, was donated by the George Frank Tilson family to the Tennessee State Museum. It has been moved to Nashville and restored to use for public display and demonstration, an exciting centerpiece of the Pioneer Section of the Museum. This publication, complete with numerous photographs and illustrations, tells about the mill with interesting sketches of the life and times of some of the Tilsons. This pioneer family, which traces its American ancestry back to the Mayflower, first came to Greasy Cove (Unicoi County, Tennessee) during the 1790s. The text includes 16 pages of genealogy.
