Max is an up-and-coming advertising man and a devastated widower. Celibate since his wife's tragic death, Max suddenly and shockingly finds himself careening into a torrid affair with a woman from the other side of the tracks--a lusty, hard-drinking, passionate 41-year-old White Palace waitress named Nora. This is the story of how their back-breaking, one-night stand turns, quite remarkably, into an amazing kind of love.

I could not put this book down. The movie (with Susan Sarandon and James Spader) is one of my favorites. The book differs from the movie and that's ok. A rather strange story, well written and a very good read. Read full review
