About the author (1993)

Woody Jackson discovered his love of painting and agriculture while a student at Middlebury College in the Champlain valley of Vermont. Graduating in 1970, he lived on a communal farm and tried to learn the old ways of all country folk. Thanks to the kindness and patience of many farm families, he picked up a few pointers, and he also spent a lot of time riding tractors, absorbing the landscape. Cow watching came with the job. Since completing his first cow painting in 1972, Woody has exhibited across the United States, Canada, and Sweden. Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream trucks and stores display his bovines from coast to coast. Woody's business, Holy Cow, Inc., sells his designs on gifts and apparel through his mailorder catalog as well as in retail stores. Woody received an MFA from the Yale School of Art in 1980. He has traveled the world and lived in New York City, but is at home in Vermont, seeing it in his own way.
