About the author (1999)

Robert Geffner, PhD, ABPN, is the Founder and President of the Institute on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma; and Founder and President of the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Institute.

He is a Clinical Research Professor of Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University. He is a Licensed Psychologist and a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in CA and in TX. He is the 2006-2007 President Elect of the APA Trauma Division; Editor of the "Journal of Child Sexual Abuse", Co-Editor-in-Chief of Haworth's Maltreatment and Trauma Program, Senior Editor of the "Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment, & Trauma", Co-Editor of the "Journal of Emotional Abuse", and on the editorial boards of the "Journal of Trauma Practice" and the "Journal of Family Violence"/. He has a Diplomate in Clinical Neuropsychology.

Carol Mantooth, MS, is the Director of the Psychoeducational and Case Workers Services at the Andrews Center, a community mental health agency in Tyler, TX.
