About the author (2021)

Sherrill Joseph has been a mystery book fan since discovering Nancy Drew and Phyllis A. Whitney in the 5th grade.

She went on to enjoy a 35-year career as a K-12 literacy teacher. Her first book in the Botanic Hill Detectives Mysteries series sprang to life in 2013 when she retired.

Sherrill is forever inspired by her amazing students in the San Diego public schools and peoples and themes her series with children of various abilities, cultures, and interests in order to teach anti-racism and acceptance of personal differences.

The author is a native San Diegan where she lives with her poodle-bichon rescue Jimmy Lambchop. Having never lived in a two-story house, she is naturally fascinated by staircases.

Her mental gift of lexical-gustatory synesthesia enriches her imagination and writing.

The author's professional memberships include the Authors Guild, the SCBWI, and Blackbird Writers.
