When tragedy brings her back to her small hometown, she’s determined to rebuild her life, not revisit the past. But living next door to Ben stirs up feelings she thought were long buried.

The chemistry between them is undeniable, but Ben’s life is in Hope’s Crossing, and Willa’s is in Paradise Falls. She’s worked hard to move forward without him, but now she must face the truth—what if the life she’s built isn’t the one she truly wants?

Can they bridge the distance between their two worlds, or will Ben leave her behind again?

About the author (2024)

For over thirty years, I’ve stood behind the lens of a camera, capturing the heart of agriculture—wading through cow pastures, rice paddies, and sprawling orchards. As a photojournalist specializing in agriculture, I’ve told stories rooted in the land, its people, and their passion.

Now, I channel that same storytelling spirit into deeply emotional, small-town contemporary romance. My novels weave themes of love, community, and sometimes, the agricultural threads that have shaped my own journey. Some of you may remember me as Kate Curran, but these days, all my books are published under my name, Kathy Coatney.

In addition to romance, I write the nonfiction children’s series From the Farm to the Table and Dad’s Girls, celebrating the connection between farm life and the food we enjoy.

When I’m not writing, you’ll likely find me mountain biking, cross-country skiing, strength training, or out for a jog—though tortoise pace might be a more accurate description!
