ARTICLES OF THE FRIENDLY FIRE SOCIETY. PREAMBLE. We, whose names are hereunto subscribed, being desirous of forming a FRIENDLY FIRE SOCIETY, do hereby bind ourselves by the sacred ties of honor strictly to observe the following articles, which shall not be altered, unless by the number of votes herein after required in Article 21. ART. 1. Our number shall, at no time, exceed twenty-eight, all of whom shall be householders ; and no business of the Society shall be transacted by a less number than eight, except calling the list and determining on fines. ART. 2. There shall be an annual meeting held by the Society on the last Monday of January, at 1 o'clock, P. M., and the members present shall dine together at 2 o'clock, P. M. The Chairman and Clerk shall be a committee to make provision for the dinner, the expense of which shall be paid from the funds of the Society, unless a majority of the members present shall determine otherwise.
