Page 23 - Registers that only in 2 men out of the 185 inoculated in 1893, a marked febrile reaction was obtained ; in 77 individuals the vaccinal fever was only slight, while in 66 there was no reaction, an effect which was due to the weakness of the vaccines procurable at that period of work, and to the small doses used. The influence of the vaccines was possibly further reduced at the time of the epidemic by a lapse of 14 to 15 months.
