About the author (2006)

Olivier Meslay is curator of Spanish and American paintings and British collections at the Musee du Louvre in Paris. He is conducting research for two forthcoming exhibitions: one slated for a 2005 showing at the Louvre considering non-French influences on French landscape painting between 1760 and 1830; the second is being planned with the National Galleries of Scotland on the painter Henri-Pierre Danloux. He is also coauthor of several publications, such as Young Gainsborough with Susan Foister.

Author of American Art at the Nineteenth-Century Paris Salons, Lois Marie Fink is research curator emerita at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, where she worked for twenty-three years.
