User Models in Dialog SystemsUser models have attracted much research interest in the field of artificial intelligence dialog systems. Many user modeling systems have been designed and implemented, mostly in the context of natural-language dialog systems. The goal of UM86 was to bring together researchers so results of projects could be discussed and analyzed, insights could be found, and future research sparked. This book includes surveys of the current state of the art, the construction and exploitation of user models, and shortcomings of user models as developed to date, and outlines promising directions for future research. |
