About the author (1973)

Polish-born pianist Artur Rubinstein was especially renowned for his interpretation of the music of his compatriot Frederic Chopin. He gave his first public concert at the age of 7 and went on to perform with Joseph Joachim, to study with Ignacy Paderewski, and to play Camille Saint-Saens's G-minor piano concerto for the composer himself. He performed the music of Spanish and Latin American composers with true understanding, and that of Beethoven, Mozart, Schumann, and Brahms with spirit and inspiration.
