This book is not for every reader. The writing is diffuse, suggestive, poetic, and references are made to historical, literary and philosophical topics. Not everyone likes T.S. Eliot either, and because this writing is likewise challenging and intellectual, it requires a degree of receptivity and curiosity and cultural awareness that few impatient people of the current era will bother to summon. I personally enjoy it, but I'm a poet, a reader in the history of poetry, and I can see to a considerable extent what she was trying to do with the elliptical, discursive, impressionistic methodology she employs to express herself herein. A challenging, but rewarding read. --Jay Mandeville, August 15, 2012.
