Karst in China: Its Geomorphology and Environment

Front Cover
Springer, 1995 - Caves - 265 pages
This book is the first study of the karst areas of China by a Western geomorphologist. Almost all the sources for the book are from Chinese work, never published in the West. Chinese methods of studying karst differ somewhat from those in the West and these are discussed, analyzed and evaluated. Karst areas are sensitive to environmental influences and Chinese attempts to deal with these are discussed. The book is illustrated by many diagrams from Chinese sources and the author's own photographs. Comparisons between karst areas in Europe and elsewhere are made with those in China.
