Earle was an early 19th century English artist whose love of travel led him to spend time in Australia and New Zealand. The unique body of work he produced during his travels comprises one of the most significant documentary records of the effects of European contact and colonization during the early nineteenth century. In 1827 Earle lived for nine months in New Zealand. This is his narrative of that stay.
