A historical novel set in London in the 1780's, this is a story of conflicts, violence, murder, blackmail and tragedy. In a case of mistaken identification, Barnaby Rudge, the mentally retarded son of a murderer, is arrested as a leader of a mob of rioters. He is subsequently jailed and sentenced to death but, at the last moment, he is pardoned.
