A well written and very comprehensive outlook on the war as a whole. The larger size of the book lends to the amazing photography and maps provided, which are great visual aids, especially if you're not well acquainted with the geography of Europe. The only problem I found with the book is what seems like a manufacturing error (at least in my 2005/2006 American edition). During a climatic battle, when the Allies began successfully advancing toward the end of the war, between pages 220-223 (although numbered numerically), there seems to be at least a few missing paragraphs describing the beginning of the Battle of Cambrai and Germany's initial defeat. Otherwise, I highly recommend this book to any novice history-lover who is looking for a more in-depth look at World War I than an Idiots Guide can provide.
