About the author (1992)

Jeremy Strong was born in Eltham, South East London, on November 18, 1949. He attended York University and later trained to be a primary school teacher. At the time he began teaching, he also started writing stories for children. His first book, Smith's Tail, was published in 1978. In 1991, he stopped teaching and became a full-time author. He has published more than fifty books including include Dinosaur Pox, Mad Iris, My Mum's Going to Explode, and My Granny's Great Escape. He has received several awards including The Children's Book Award in 1997 for The Hundred-Mile-An-Hour Dog, the Sheffield Children's Book Award for Short Novel in 1998 for Pirate Pandemonium, and the Sheffield Children's Book Award for Short Novel in 2001 for Living with Vampires.
