Here you are, up the first in the morning--you who used to live in your bed--and you have got soft all over, like a rolypoly pudding; and you're awfully thoughtful and contented, and deucedly civil and obliging to everyone; in fact' 'Something rotten in the state of Denmark, eh?' 'I don't know whether Denmark ever got into the fix you're in; but if she had, and she belonged to me, I should have been dashed uneasy about her. I do feel uneasy, ' continued Freddy, ' because I have known fellows get like you--and go to heaven.' 'Heaven! Well, I should think that is the one place where my friends might give up being uneasy about me.' 'Heaven is a long way off, ' remarked Freddy thoughtfully. 'And I always think it will be lonely. One will meet so few fellows one knows.' 'Well, you will know where to find 'em anyway if you miss 'em, ' suggested Seymour. 'Now, here fellows are always dropping in and out at inconvenient seasons. You go to China and onwards after a fellow it is a matter of life and death to you to see--can you come up with him? No such luck! If you can do nothing else, you will go in at one end of a station as he goes out at the other. But count upon a man's absence--see him on board a P. and 0., if you like it--and go and borrow his signature, or his wife, or anything else you think may come in handy while he has no use for it, and if you don't run...
