About the author (2005)

Dr. Lynda Madison is a licensed psychologist and Director of Family Support and Psychological Services at Children's Hospital, Omaha, and is an Associate Professor in the departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at Creighton University Medical School. She is the author of American Girl Library's The Feelings Book, and one of the contributing authors of Pleasant Company's parenting book, What I Wish You Knew: Letters from our Daughter's Lives, and Expert Advice on Staying Connected (Pleasant Company, 2001). She is also the author of Parenting with Purpose (Andrews McMeel, 1998) and Keep Talking: A Mother-Daughter Guide to the Preteen years (Andrews McMeel, 1999). Dr. Madison has provided child and family therapy for over 20 years. She is a nationally recognized speaker on the topics of family relationships and adolescent girls. She particularly enjoys providing entertaining, interactive workshops for mothers and daughters. She has appeared on the Today Show, Great Day America, Lifestyle Magazine, and MSNBC, and consults on a variety of parenting topics for ABC.com. She and her husband live in Omaha, Nebraska with their two daughters.

Norman Bendell is an award-winning illustrator and designer. He is a fine arts graduate of the American Academy of Art who has worked in advertising, animation, and electronic media. His illustrations have been featured in a number of best-selling books, including The Care and Keeping of You (written by Valorie Schaefer) as well as other works in the American Girl Library series. He has worked with Dr. Lauren Gerber as the illustrator of two previous books, Kitchen Table Therapy and Does God Have an Email Address?, and is currently working with her on the Dr. Lauren Library series of books.
