Northwest BronxNorthwest Bronx is home to Wave Hill, Van Cortlandt Park, Woodlawn Cemetery, the New York Botanical Garden, and a variety of colleges and universities. Hunter College served as a training facility during World War II, and Mark Twain, Theodore Roosevelt's family, and Arturo Toscanini once lived at Wave Hill. Pres. John F. Kennedy's boyhood home is only steps from Wave Hill, and George Washington slept at the Van Cortlandt Mansion.
