David McAnulty, PhD
This is one of my favorite authors and one of my favorite books. Tournier was a Swiss family physician who, while untrained in psychology or psychiatry, practiced Christian counseling. He is a sharp and insightful thinker. While his books are never practical "how-to's" in the tradition of most current self-help books, they are rich with mature, spiritual thinking. In this book, the author takes an in-depth, even if prolonged (hang in there through the first section, it will be worth it!), look at the problem of guilt and judgment as it affects us all. He then goes on to the solution: grace. I think you will find this book helpful, and worth more than one read. I believe it is a good read for anyone, especially (a) those predisposed to an accused conscience, and (b) anyone who wants to counsel others.
