About the author (1999)

Ron Adler is professor emeritus at Santa Barbara City College, where he has taught interpersonal communication, business and professional communication, and communication theories. In addition to teaching, Adler has co-authored and has edited several textbooks that address communication contexts and topics including interpersonal communication, small group communication, public speaking, assertiveness, and social skills. In addition to writing and teaching, he works with professional and business people to improve their communication on the job.

Neil Towne currently is retired after four decades of teaching. He and his wife, Bobbi, live on the shores of Clear Lake in Northern California. Neil stays active in the communication field through his continuing involvement in Looking Out, Looking In and by directing workshops, teaching short classes in couples communication with his wife, and working with his church community in the area of conflict resolution.
