Front Cover
Verlag J. Mitzkat Holzminden, 1996 - Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) - 96 pages
Surveys the history of the Jews of Stadtoldendorf (Lower Saxony), which owed its development from a poor, insignificant town into an important industrial area to Abraham Rothschild, one of the inhabitants, who built a textile mill in the mid-19th century. Other local Jews contributed to the development of the town over several generations. Despite these contributions, Jews in Stadtoldendorf were persecuted and murdered during the Holocaust, often with the cooperation of their neighbors. 71 Jews lived in Stadtoldendorf in the 1930s; 31 were victims of the Holocaust. Pp. 30-53 relate the fate of the Jewish inhabitants.
