About the author (1974)

Faith Baldwin was born on October 1, 1893, in New Rochelle, New York. She attended private academies and finishing schools, and from 1914 to 1916, lived in Dresden, Germany. In 1921, Baldwin published her first novel, Mavis of Green Hill. Over the next 56 years she published more than 85 books, more than 60 of them novels. Her last novel, Adam's Eden, was published in 1977. In 1936 alone, she published five novels in magazine serial form and three earlier serials in volume form and saw four of those made into films. She also wrote two books under the pen name Amber Lee and a column that was published in Womans Day magazine from 1958 to 1965. Faith Baldwin died in Norwalk, Connecticut, on March 18, 1978.
