About the author (2006)

Stephani and Tom Stienstra have adventured across California for years--hiking, boating, and fishing--searching for the best of the outdoors and writing about it. Tom is the outdoors writer for the San Francisco Chronicle and has been twice honored with the Presidents Award by the Outdoors Writers Association of America as the national Outdoor Writer of the Year for the newspaper division. Stephani’s extensive travels are highlighted by climbing the West’s highest summits, including Mt. Whitney, Shasta, and Half Dome. Tom and Stephani are the authors of the popular new book, Foghorn Outdoors Washington Camping.
