About the author (1999)

Beth Powning has photographed two gardening books, Hardy Roses and Hardy Trees and Shrubs, and has contributed articles and photographs to numerous other books and magazines.  Her most recent book is a memoir called  Shadow Child: An Apprenticeship in Love and Loss.  She lives on a three-hundred acre farm in New Brunswick, Canada with her husband and their son.
