About the author (2008)

ROBERT M. FENNER is a lifelong aquarist with an active and continuing involvement in the academic, journalistic, trade, and hobbyist sides of aquarium keeping. He is a former marine science and aquariology instructor at the University of California and in the California State University system. Bob lives in San Diego, California.

Matthew L. Wittenrich is a marine biologist who has been deeply involved with the aquarium world since age 15. He has studied coral reef fishes throughout the world, working as a researcher, consultant, and hobbyist. He has a bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from Long Island University, Southampton College, and is currently pursuing his doctorate at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida, with research projects centered in the Philippines.

SCOTT W. MICHAEL is a lifelong marine fishkeeper who has become one of the world's leading underwater reef photographers as well as a renowned coral fish researcher. A former aquarium store owner, he has personally kept many of the species he covers in his books and has also observed them in their native habitats. In addition to the four volumes of the Reef Fishes series, he is the author of the bestselling PocketExpert Guide: Marine Fishes and PocketExpert Guide: Reef Aquarium Fishes.He lives in Lincoln, Nebraska.
