I live in Southern California where there are very few Haitians and restaurants are non existent save for one that is known for chicken. I long for my own food and frequent Jamaican or Cuban restaurants and, yes they are good but not like Haitian food. I combed the computer for recipes and so longed for a serious cookbook. Having have ordered many so called Haitian cookbooks on the computer and getting disappointed, it was with a heavy heart that I ordered this one. I expected to get the usual shortened versions of the meals loaded with impossible to find concoctions that when finally done, tasted nothing like it is supposed to. When this book arrived, I was happy to see it's size, our flag proudly displayed, the number of recipes it offered, the cute stories, the poems that I completely sympathize and agree with, how clearly written it was, what helpful solutions it had to offer and at last how delicious and authentic it all tasted! Ms.Menager is obviously in tuned with the need of passing this great cuisine on to her children ( as I am) and has shared Haiti with the world in the process. Thank you for your wonderful book and thank you making cooking this wonderful food easy.
