Military effectiveness comprises a series of articles covering the major powers between the end of World War I to the eve of the Second World War. Each essay is written by some leading historians of the inter-war and World War II. It makes interesting reading in regards to why each power acted in the way they did during the crisises of the 1930s that led to the German invasion of Poland. I recommend this monograph to all interested in the military history of the years leading to the Second World War.
