The study of viruses has led to tremendous insights into fundamental biological processes. This book provides information on the latest trends of research on subjects such as viral replication, gene expression, pathogenesis and the disease process, virus-host interactions, and viral vectors and vaccines. This volume contains 27 research papers from eminent scientists outlining recent developments on these fronts in the study of animal viruses. The major contributors to this volume are virologists from the Program in Animal Virology at the University of California at Irvine and from the ICGEB laboratories in Trieste and New Delhi. The New Delhi and Irvine programs are also united by common interests and collaborative research. The papers compiled in this volume were presented at the First ICGEB-UCI Symposium on Animal Virology held at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi, India from February 19-23, 1995. It will be of utility to molecular biologists, virologists, immunologists and research scientists in many other fields of biological and medical sciences.
