I thought this one was entertaining and fun. I really like the characters that McKinlay has created for this series, and of course, as a book lover, I couldn't ask for a better setting than a library. I really enjoyed the interaction between Lindsey, Beth, Nancy, Sully, and many of the other great characters. The storyline in this one caught my attention right away, and I was swept up completely in the story.
Right after Carrie is elected as the new head of The Friends of the Library, her unpleasant husband is found murdered in their home. Carrie is the main suspect, although librarian Lindsay knows she couldn't have possibly done this horrible thing. As a dangerous storm rages through their northeastern community, Lindsey and her landlord, Nancy, give Carrie a place to stay so that she won't have to be in the home where her husband was murdered. At the same time they must deal with the storm, they also have to content with a deranged woman who is infatuated with the sour man who lost his position as head of The Friends of the Library. Lindsey and friends must try to identify the killer before Carrie is arrested for a crime not of her making.
This book was very quick and easy to read. It moved along at a great pace, and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. The best part of the book was puppy Heathcliffe, who completely stole the show. I'm already eagerly looking forward to reading the next installment of the series.
